Meta-Commentary on a Produced Space

I'm still somewhat ambivalent about including this metacommentary. I haven't fully resolved the distinctions between the hypertext nodes of my project and the linear thinking done here. Another question to ask might be whether that distinction needs to be drawn....Nonetheless, here are the two primary reasons I included this meta-commentary:

  1. I am still a literate, linear-thinking person. While these few short pages will not come near to encapsulating what my project did, it will give me (and you, gentle reader) a better idea of what's going on in a Produced Space.
  2. These pages can serve as an entry point for any readers who feel the project is too opaque to jump right into.

The metacommentary is broken down into five parts. The first is a discussion of the 'compass' thread, the chain in the hypertext that focuses most closely on traditionalist hypertext critique. The second part addresses the flâneur section, which focuses on more progressive hypertext theory. The third section covers the thread signified by the crane icon, my discussion of Lefebvre and his relevance to the project.

The last two sections do not deal with theory, but rather with other matters. Section four of my commentary discusses my approach to the pedagogical thread of the project, and section five discusses the burr under my saddle -- the map.
