There are two illusions that help support the concealing of (social) space's (social) production. These two illusions allow dominating powers (those that construct space?) to continue to hold sway.

2. The realistic illusion This is the illusion of natural simplicity -- the product of a naïve attitude long ago rejected by philosophers and theorists of language, on various grounds and under various names, but chiefly because of its appeal to naturalness, to substantiality.... [It is] the mistaken belief that 'things' have more of an existence than the 'subject,' his thought and his desires. (Lefebvre 28)

Lefebvre argues that this illusion then bolsters other philosophical systems when necessary -- they can be grounded in 'nature.' Can one media be more 'naturally' expressive than another?
