Conclusion

We began this webtext with a survey of the way writing excellence has long seemed a key component of nursing practice and scholarship, and we hope our study provides educators with options to keep such a deep appreciation of writing's role in nursing education into the future. In particular, we believe that the considerable impact of popular culture obligates educators to help students make sense of what they are encountering -- to teach these students, then, how to think critically about the elements of popular culture in their lives. With the specific curricular interventions outlined above, as well as others readers may imagine that emphasize writing excellence, nursing educators have the tools to include popular culture in their teaching and learning spaces.
